Week 98: Walls!
Wow! It almost looks like a basement now! Lots of lumber arriving and constant sawing and hammering now as the crew can finally start prepping the basement so that we can lower the house. Week 97: Sistering Joists
I am sure this was not a fun week for the builders but i am pretty happy to see wood arriving. Week 96: Backfill
Drains wrapped up early in the week and we passed inspection so were able to start on the backfill. This made an amazing difference to the feel of the place as we can now walk around it much more easily. The house is no longer sitting in a big hole and, at least from the outside, the foundation walls don't seem as tall. Week 95: Perimeter Drains
The damp proofing got inspected so now we are starting on the perimeter drains. It started with bringing in a bunch of gravel and now all the pipes are getting bedded in. This all has to be properly sloped towards the front and is much more complex than just gluing up a bunch of pipes.
