The whole house lift and renovation process is a learning curve because we have never tackled a job like this before. For most of our adult lives we have been too broke to hire professionals with the exception of an electrician to upgrade the service to the house, a plumber to replace the rusted and leaking iron water service and roofers to strip our shingles, re-deck and re-shingle the roof. We (i ?) plan to document the learning curve so that other homeowners can learn along with us. I hesitate to say “learn from our mistakes” because i don’t want to jinx it, but there you go, it’s out there.
We are already learning a lot, and things like FSR and glazing ratios are starting to make sense. Vancouver has some very strict building rules and we hope to share what we learn. It’ll make it easier for us next time. (don’t tell Sarah I said that)
