We had a stat holiday this week and i spent part of it prepping for my dad’s visit. I cleared our work area, cut nails, measured and cut a bunch of strips to go between the joists.
Dad and i managed to get way more done than i expected because we have figured out the process. We also don’t try to cut to the closest 1/8th so we have less BS to fuss around with. Dad got in pretty early and i had a bunch of sheets already cut so we were done my goal for Saturday before we went to bed Friday night. That gave us time to get to the market on Saturday morning to hit the farmers market to load up on croissants from Ca Croustille who make the BEST croissants in the lower mainland as far as i am concerned. I have been a huge fan since the first bite and nothing else compares. Fueled up on coffee and flaky pastry we had a really productive weekend. Dad had brought his tools so we were both cutting strips and we did several sessions of cutting a half dozen strips, glue and screw and repeat.
By the time we were done Saturday we had exceeded my goal for our weekend and the entire area under the living room was covered with 2 layers of drywall between the joists. Sunday was gravy and we wrapped up more of the area under the bedroom. I had planned on taking it easy because we had worked so hard on my dad’s last visit but we had momentum (and flaky pastry. We had 3 each both days) and it was really satisfying.
We capped off the weekend at The Irish Heather again and almost needed straws because the pints were so heavy.
