The workshops in Jakarta are a bit of a blur. I got sick on the Sunday night and felt like absolute garbage on Monday. Spent the day in a van seeing some projects and partners we work with on Java. I made our van stay masked the entire time because i wasn’t sure what was going on with my “cold”. Had a nap when we stopped for lunch and we ended our day at a fantastic colonial hotel by the water.
The week was exhausting but great. I was sick but never had a fever or lost my sense of taste or smell so i carried on. Between workshops and dinner i would nap and went to bed early every night. I always find these sorts of events really draining because i am an introvert have to be “on” all of the time. We made great progress and i am happy with the outcomes of the hackathon. We generated a lot of good ideas and plans. The final dinner was boisterous and i think everyone made some good connections which was an important goal of the event.
I flew home early on Saturday. I think i got picked up at the hotel at like 4:30 am. Flight was uneventful. Got back late and had a text from Chris who i had shared a hotel room with for the week. He had flown to Bali to spend a couple of weeks working remotely and spending some time with the team but had gotten my cold. He texted to say he was really sick and could i take a rapid test. Not good news.
So, turns out i have COVID. I ran five days of workshops and spend tons of unmasked time with co-workers from across the world. I am an idiot.
I am going to sleep. I have no idea what is going on with the house.
