Week 91: COVID Part 2

September 26, 2022 by Rob Leave a Comment

So Sarah was pretty sick and stuck in her room, but i am thrilled to see an actual foundation at the house!

west side with nice bolts!
the final slab will be at the level of the footings you can see in the middle of the basement. We are looking over the storage room/shed and the laundry/mechanical room.

Her plague could not have arrived at a worse time because this was wedding weekend for our dear friends Jeff & Jenn and Sarah and I were supposed to be the best men. On top of that, the offspring has come home for the wedding and brought her boyfriend for his first real trip to the west coast!

We scrambled and found a place to stay thanks to our friend Mela who lives in co-housing in Burnaby that has a guest suite. Mela was heading out of town but booked it and got me a key. The kids are arriving late so we didn’t want to put anyone out and this is setup so we can get ourselves in. Their flight was late so i think i dropped them off at about 1 am. Dave and Nicola were heading out for the weekend so Friday we moved them to their place in the neighbourhood so they are easy walking distance. Hard to have them close and not be able to have them here.

I went to the rehearsal and it was great to meet everyone but it was bittersweet without Sarah. J&J are using a company called “Young, Hip, & Married” and the woman was great at organizing us all. I really wish i had been part of this before Maddy and Colin’s wedding in July! I made so many mistakes!!

Saturday was the wedding and the kids came by to say hi to Sarah before going. Jeff and Jenn are so much fun and their wedding reflected their D&D and Star Wars nerdiness perfectly. The wedding is 2 years late because of covid but it was worth the wait. Again, without Sarah it was really strange. She wrote a great speech, complete with stage directions, that Brianna delivered admirably.

Sunday we headed up to Whistler to show Alex some real mountains and spent far too much money at restaurants.
